LINCOLN PARK (WWJ) - Officials say a 49-year-old Detroit man was driving with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit when he crashed into a Michigan State Police cruiser along I-75.
Troopers were blocking two lanes on northbound I-75 near Dix in Lincoln Park around 1:30 a.m. Thursday while a previous crash was being cleaned up on the freeway.
Police say the suspect failed to stop and struck the front driver’s side of the patrol vehicle, then continued northbound on I-75. Troopers caught up with the vehicle and the driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
"The suspect driver alcohol results were twice the legal limit," police said in a statement.
The patrol vehicle is drivable, but has about $3,000 in damages. No injuries were reported.
Charges are pending.
