(WWJ) A shooting at a home in Roseville has left a teen fighting for his life.
Roseville Police told WWJ two men were showing off their illegal handguns at a “small house party” on Ivanhoe, in the area of Martin and Gratiot, around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The suspect’s gun went off, police said.
“By all accounts, at the party, it appears to be an accidental shooting... “Roseville Deputy Police Chief Mitchell Berlin said. “(The gun) was unintentionally discharged.”
The victim, 17, from Macomb Township was shot in the head. Police told WWJ the teen was an innocent bystander and did not have a gun.
The suspect, 20, from Warren was taken into custody.
Police said they are in the process of interviewing the seven people present at the house party, all of whom are cooperating with investigators.
The teen is in critical condition.
“Young men that don’t know…the weapons were reckless with them, careless,” Berlin told WWJ. “It should have never happened.”
