SPRINGFIELD TWP. (WWJ) - A gravel truck driver from the Flint area has died of his injuries two weeks after a crash in northern Oakland County.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, 66-year old Roger David Thomas of Burton died last Sunday at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
On December 18, Thomas was driving a Peterbilt truck that hit a GMC Acadia on southbound Dixie Highway, near East Holly Road in Springfield Township, and flipped over, spilling its load. Investigators said the driver of the car, identified as a 66-year-old man from Springfield Twp, missed a turn, was trying to make a U-turn, and failed to yield to the truck when the crash occurred.
The car driver was not seriously injured. His name has not been released.
Investigators said drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
Sheriff's officials said they will send its findings to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office which will determine what, if any, charges will be filed.
