HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - A truck involved in an early morning ATM smash-and-grab was found burning in flames shortly after the crime.
The theft happened around 4:40 a.m. Wednesday at the Marathon gas station on the corner of 8 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue in northeast Detroit.
According to police, a black male driving a light blue, older model Ram truck pulled up to the gas station, wrapped a chain around the ATM and drove away with the machine.
Officers later found the truck on fire near Brush and Gerald streets in Highland Park -- with the ATM nowhere to be found.
No word yet on how much cash was taken.
The suspect remains at large.
