(WWJ) Tension and anger over a delayed flight is nothing new, but disgruntled passengers don't typically go this far.
Authorities in Broward County, Florida, made three arrests after a brawl broke out at a Spirit Airlines gate at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport.
Call phone video of the violent incident, last Tuesday night, shows women throwing objects at Spirit Airlines employees. Eventually, they go back to the counter and attack at a Spirit worker, until other employees intervene.
"The victims were also punched and kicked in different sections of their bodies numerous times," according to the police report cited by Local 10 News.
The Broward Sheriff's Office told Local 10 that three young women were taken into custody:
- Tymaya Wright, 20, faces charges of touch or strike battery and petit theft
- Danaysha Dixon, 22, faces charges of or strike battery.
- Keira Ferguson, 21, faces charges of touch or strike battery.
Reports say the women were from Philadelphia, and were trying to get back home.
In a statement, Spirit said its employees acted properly, acknowledging what the company called their "professionalism and quick actions."
"This violent behavior is completely unacceptable and has absolutely no place in airports or any other place of business," the statement continued. "We will not tolerate abusive behavior of any kind."
