TAYLOR, Mich. (WWJ) -- Less than two years after opening, the Wahlburgers restuarant in Taylor is closing its doors and moving to a new location.

A spokesperson for the company tells WWJ the restaurant, located at 21200 Penn Street near Eureka Road and I-75, will close in two weeks and that Wahlburgers has plans to open a new Downriver location in the spring.

Wahlburgers, founded by actor Mark Wahlberg and his brothers, has four other locations in Michigan, including in Detroit's Greektown neighborhood, at Ford Field, one in Royal Oak and one in Flint.

The owner of the Taylor franchise, Nino Cutraro, is reportedly planning on opening a new chain, City Fire American Oven and Bar, in that location, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Wahlburgers officials did not specify the location of the Wahlburgers expected to open this summer, but the Free Press reports it will be in Woodhaven on Allen Road.

As the burger joint plans to close in the coming weeks, Wahlburgers is offering to transfer employees to other locations.

"We'd love to have them stay in the family because they're trained and they're wonderful people," spokesperson Collen Robar told WWJ.

Robar says the reason for the move is not that it wasn't busy enough, but says "it just made business sense to move to a different location and let someone else use this space."
