(WWJ) A 28-year old woman has died after she was hit by a truck early this morning in Waterford Township.
Police say the woman was on foot crossing M-59, or Highland Road, near Cass Lake Road just before 5 a.m. Thursday when she was hit by a truck. The woman, identified as a Waterford resident, was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver, a 26-year-old man, stopped at this scene. He wasn't hurt.
Police said the woman was not using the crosswalk when she was hit, and that alcohol/drug use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The victim's name is not being released at this time.
Eastbound M-59 was closed near Cass Lake and Elizabeth Lake Roads while police were on the scene investigating. The roadway has since reopened.
