DETROIT (WWJ) -- A woman is dead after being struck by a Detroit Department of Transportation bus late Saturday night on the city's west side.
Police say a 69-year-old woman was crossing the street when she was hit by the DDOT bus in the area of West Outer Drive and Asbury Park, just east of the Southfield Freeway.
Police are still investigating the crash.
Reports say a driver who witnessed the crash attempted to help the victim until first responders arrived on the scene and took her to a nearby hospital.
