WOODHAVEN (WWJ) - Police have arrested two men from Detroit who allegedly broke into a house in Woodhaven while a 19-year-old girl was home alone.
Police say the young woman called 911 around 7 a.m. Wednesday, saying she was hiding in the basement while the burglars moved about her house on Reek Road, near Van Horn and Allen roads. She said she woke up and heard footsteps and belongings being tossed around, so she called her mother who confirmed no one else should have been in the house.
Officers arrived moments later and took the suspects, who had already fled the home, into custody about a block away from the crime scene. Officers also recovered items that were stolen from the home.
The suspects, ages 21 and 23, are being held at the Woodhaven Police Department while awaiting charges.
