PONTIAC (WWJ) - Two people are in custody, and Oakland County authorities are searching for a weapon, following an incident involving Facebook Live.
It all began Wednesday night, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, when deputies saw video streaming on Facebook of two people in a car with a handgun.
Deputies were able to catch up with the vehicle in the 500 block of Bloomfield Ave. Pontiac, but officials told WWJ Newsradio 950's Dan Jenkins the driver refused to stop.
As a chase began, deputies said someone threw the gun out the car window and into a pond on the border of Pontiac and Bloomfield Hills, near St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital.
The suspects were eventually stopped in the area of Square Lake Rd. and Woodward Ave. in Bloomfield Township. Both people in the car, a 25-year-old male driver and 59-year-old female passenger, were arrested.
An OCOS dive team went into the pond Wednesday night and again Thursday morning to search for the gun. The search continued after 10 a.m. Thursday, with no luck in recovering the weapon.
Charges against the two suspects are pending. Their names have not been released.
