PONTIAC (WWJ) - The Oakland County and federal authorities are searching for an alleged gunman at large.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says 22-year-old Nathaniel Covert is wanted for a shooting that took place last month on Princeton Ave. in Pontiac.

According to investigators, Covert had a victim in mind when he opened fire on the block, missing his target but hitting a neighbor's home. Luckily, the bullet missed a resident inside that house. No injuries were reported.

Speaking to WXYZ-TV, Deputy Aaron Garcia, of the U.S. Marshals Service Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team, described Covert as a "local Pontiac gang banger," with a criminal history involving weapons and narcotic.

Garcia said Pontiac is the suspect's hometown, and Garcia expect that Covert has remained in the area.

Covert is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing around 145 pounds. He has several distinct tattoos covering his body, according to the sheriffs' office, including a dollar sign above his left eye and "Chief Pontiac" on his bicep.

Anyone who has seen this wanted man or who knows of his whereabouts is urged to call the US Marshals at 313-234-5656 or the Oakland County Sheriff's Office at 888-TURN-1-IN.
