(WWJ) Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer got plenty of positive attention for her speech at the Democratic National Convention Monday in support of presidential candidate Joe Biden.

But not as much attention as she's getting for this: Cursing in front of a hot mic.

Before her speech while she was waiting to go live during the virtual convention, Whitmer told a crowd in the room, "It's not just Shark Week, it's Shark Week mother f'er."

The last word she mouthed while joking that she knew what it meant to be in front of a hot mic. Still, the word is clear.

Of course, she wasn't there to say that. She was there to praise Biden and presidential predecessor Barack Obama for their actions that she said saved the auto industry.

And she was there to lambast President Donald Trump for what she long claimed is a lackluster response to the coronavirus. See her full speech HERE

She did both of those things. But the part of the speech going viral on social media today is, you guessed it: 'It's Shark Week motherf'er.'

The video was posted on Twitter by The Recount, which describes itself as "a new approach to video about politics that won't waste your time or insult your intelligence."

Whitmer was speaking at a union hall in Lansing. It's unclear what she was talking about or how The Recount got the video.

Many took it as fighting words about Trump, though it's also true that Shark Week just ended on the Discovery Channel.
