NOVI, Mich. (WWJ) -- A Michigan State Police trooper has been released from the hopsital after suffering injuries when another car spun out of control and slammed into the parked patrol car on Tuesday.
State police said troopers responded to the scene along I-696 near Novi shortly before 1:30 p.m., saying a sergeant was stationary doing paperwork in the center median when a blue Audi spun out of control and slammed into the patrol car.
The driver of the Audi was taken to a nearby hospital, but police did not disclose the extent of the driver's injuries.
The sergeant was taken to Providence Park Hospital by other troopers and was soon released with "minor bumps and bruises."
There have been several crashed involving parked patrol cars in the past few weeks, including an impaired driver who slammed into a parked patrol car along I-94.
State police are reminding drivers to slow down during the slick winter road conditions. Drive at a speed where you can control your vehicle.
A Winter Weather Advisory that has been in effect since early Tuesday morning will carry over until Wednesday afternoon. Drivers can expect icy roads during the morning commute.
