ROMULUS (WWJ) - A woman who needed medical attention while onboard a Southwest Airlines flight that made an emergency landing at Detroit Metro Airport earlier this week has died.
Family members say Anne Gizzi, a mother of five and grandmother to two, died following the Monday flight from Philadelphia to Chicago.
While in-flight, Gizzi suffered an unknown medical emergency and Flight 701 was diverted to make an emergency landing at Metro Airport in Romulus. Travelers say six to eight passengers were performing CPR and helping Gizzi, a 54-year-old from Philadelphia.
A cause of death remains unknown, and toxicology reports are pending.
Gizzi's 15-year-old daughter said her mother was "a very strong and wonderful person inside and out." She added that Gizzi, who was living with Spina Bifida, always took care of her family before anything.
