WESTLAND (WWJ) - Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash in Westland.
It happened just after 7 p.m. Monday near Merriman and Palmer roads.
Reports indicate the 20-year-old victim was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle. He was taken to a hospital where he died.
The driver of the vehicle did not suffer any injuries.
Police say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The intersection was closed for several hours but reopened to traffic shortly before midnight.
