KIMBALL TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Four people are facing charges after a police chase led officers to a home where $56,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine was discovered.
The incident unfolded around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday while members of the St. Clair County Drug Task Force were investigating sales of crystal methamphetamine in the Port Huron area. When deputies attempted to stop a Dodge Ram pickup in the area of Wadhams Road and I-94, police say the driver rammed a patrol vehicle and an unmarked DTF vehicle, then took off.
Deputies pursued the vehicle, watching as items were being thrown from the truck, until it pulled into the driveway of a home in the 5000 block of Ravenswood Road in Kimball Township. The driver, a 27-year-old Kimball Township man and his passenger, a 22-year-old Port Huron woman, were immediately taken into custody.
A search warrant was carried out at the home, during which officers located and seized crystal methamphetamine along with an AR-15 rifle, two shotguns, two handguns, a large amount of cash and several vehicles. Four people were inside the home; two were released while a 40-year-old man and woman, both from Kimball Township, were arrested.
Members of the Drug Task Force also walked the area where officers had chased the suspects and located more crystal meth.
In total, police say more than $56,000 worth of crystal meth was seized during the incident.
The suspects are facing a multitude of charges including possession with intent to deliver crystal methamphetamine, fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, destruction of police property, maintaining a drug house, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and habitual offender.
