VAN BUREN TWP., Mich. (WWJ) -- The search for a Washtenaw County man who was reported missing after missing work for the first time in 30 years has come to an end.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office confirmed to WWJ Sunday that a Michigan State Police K-9 Unit discovered the body of 56-year-old Marcus Esper Friday in Van Buren Township.

Esper, of Superior Township, had been reported missing on Tuesday after he did not show up to work unannounced for the first time in three decades, according to his family. Esper had told his family he was heading to a storage unit in Ypsilanti.

Police said his 2013 Buick LaCrosse was found outside a church in Belleville on Thursday.

An investigation into the cause of his death is still ongoing, police said.
