(WWJ) There was some suspicious white stuff on the ground in Arizona -- and police are investigating.
A tongue-in-cheek video posted by Tucson police on Friday shows a couple of cops standing in front of a snowman as they update "the concerned public" on the situation.
The humorous clip has since gone viral, closing in on 4 million views by Monday morning.
"The answer to the main question is, we don't know what's going on out here," a uniformed officer says, with a straight face. "Tucson's never seen anything like this before. We've gotten lots of calls about white, powdery substance all over."
"We did have our crime lab out here just a little bit ago," he jokes, as a second officer with gloved hands and a baggie takes a sample. "One of our officers here is helping out with that, and as soon as we find out what this is, we will let you know. Please don't go out in it."
The officer rubs a bit on his gums proclaiming "that burns," but after taking a call he announces: "It's frozen water."
According to the National Weather Service, Tucson averages 0 inches of snow per year, and sees around 286 sunny days annually. The city's record snowfall was 6.8 inches on Dec. 8, 1971.
Tucson.com reported the area would be drying out a bit over the weekend after a major winter storm dumped nearly two inches of snow in the metro area Friday. One death was attributed to icy conditions on Tucson-area roadways.
The same storm dropped nearly 3 feet of snow Thursday in Flagstaff, AZ, during the city's snowiest day on record.
