SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Police are investigating a attempted murder-suicide in Southfield that left a gunman dead and his wife fighting for her life.
The shooting happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Sapphire Apartments on North Park Drive, off the M-10 Service Drive just south of 9 Mile Road.
According to police, a 44-year-old man fired a single gunshot at his 37-year-old wife, then turned the gun and shot himself. Both were transported to a nearby hospital where the man died and the woman was last listed in critical condition.
Police say the pair was married but separated and still seeing each other.
Other circumstances surrounding the shooting weren't immediately clear.
An investigation is ongoing.
