(WWJ) Rockwood fire investigators say it could take a couple of days to find out what caused a fire at a chemical plant that led to mass evacuations and a shelter-in-place order Wednesday.
The fire was at the R.J. Marshall Company on Huron River Drive in South Rockwood.
Eleven employees were in the plant at the time the fire erupted, but they were not hurt.
On the other hand, five firefighters were taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion and skin irritation from the chemicals.
The evacuation order began mid-afternoon and was lifted just before midnight.
It raged so high that as of 11:30 p.m. first responders were still out looking for hot spots in the building, which was essentially destroyed.
Officials said they do not know what caused the blaze, though multiple fire departments responded to the scene.
