LANSING (WWJ) - A search is continuing for a boy who went into the Grand River in Lansing and never resurfaced.

Police say the 11-year-old boy was out with a group of friends at Fulton Park around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday when he went into the water and never came back up.

His friends called 911 and rescue teams went out to find him, but were forced to call of the search because of the severe weather. A regional dive team picked up the search Wednesday morning.

Police say they've been in close contact with the child's parents, but have not released his name at the time. The situation is being treated as a recovery operation.
