ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is on the hunt for three people wanted for a pair of gas station robberies less than an hour apart.
According to investigators, the suspects first hit a Sunoco gas station in the 7600 block of S. Ortonville Rd. in Independence Township at around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Officials said one suspect broke a glass door with a rock before two suspects entered the store, then seen in surveillance video stuffing several packages of cigarettes into a large plastic bag. The pair fled, officials said, in what appeared to be a dark colored Pontiac G6 sedan with a third suspect driving, headed southbound on I-75.
A short time later, a little after 4 a.m., investigators said the same suspects broke into a Shell gas station in the 2200 block of Crooks Rd. at M-59 in Rochester Hills.
This time, officials said one of the suspect broke a glass door with a cinder block. Again, two suspects entered the store and placed an unknown quantity of cigarettes into a large plastic bag. They again got into a dark Pontiac G6 sedan and were last seen turning onto southbound Crooks Rd. before entering the westbound on ramp to M-59.
Suspect #1 is described as white female wearing a black sweatshirt with the word “Queen” in white lettering, a gray hat, light colored gloves and a bandana covering her face.
Suspect #2 is described as a white male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants, a black mask covering his face and neon colored gloves.
Suspect #3 is a male who served as the getaway driver. He remained seated in the vehicle and is believed to be heavy-set.
As the investigation continues, the sheriff's office is asking for tips from the public to identify the culprits. A $1,000 reward is available if a tip leads to an arrest in this case.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. (1-800-773-2587). As always, tipsters may stay 100 percent anonymous, will not be asked their names, to speak to police or to testify in court.
