FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - A giant sinkhole is forcing a major road closure in Oakland County.
Middlebelt Road is shut down between 12 Mile and 13 Mile roads due to a sinkhole in the northbound lanes just south of Sylvan Lane.
Reporting live from the scene around 6 a.m. Friday, WWJ's Mike Campbell said the sinkhole was roughly 3-feet across and very deep.

— Mike Campbell (@reportermikec) July 12, 2019It's unclear what caused the sinkhole, but the Road Commission for Oakland County says it looks like the hole is getting bigger.
Middlebelt Road is closed in both directions from 12 Mile to 13 Mile until further notice. Residents are able to get to their homes and businesses are still open, but other drivers should use Inkster Road or Orchard Lake Road as alternates.
