TROY (WWJ) - Authorities say a Troy woman found murdered in her home was beaten and stuffed in a bedroom closet -- and the suspected killer is her son.
Police are expected to present their case Friday to the Oakland County Prosecutor against a man accused of killing his 61-year-old mother.
The woman's body was discovered covered in debris and stuffed into a closet in the back bedroom of her home at the Troy Villa Mobile Home Community on Wednesday night. Police had been conducting a welfare check after the woman's family reported her missing, saying she was last heard from on Monday.
An autopsy indicated the woman died from blunt force head and chest trauma.
Investigators have not yet released a motive in the case.
Neighbor Paul Anderson said a strange incident happened at the woman's home earlier this week.
"Just a couple days ago, a younger man, like 20 or something, comes out of that house screaming about satan, the devil and the end of the world, telling me to redeem myself and Jesus saves. It was just a bunch of gibberish about the devil and god. It was crazy," Anderson told WWJ's Charlie Langton.
The son was taken into custody the same day his mother's body was found. Another person who lives at the home was taken in for questioning, but is not suspected to be involved in the crime.
Michigan State Police detectives are helping Troy police with the investigation.
