Southern Michigan Man Killed In Snowmobile Crash

PRESQUE ISLE (WWJ) - A southern Michigan man has died following a New Year's Day snowmobile crash Up North.

Authorities in Presque Isle County said the accident happened on Trail #9 -- south of the village of Millersburg, west of Rogers City -- at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Local TV station WNEP reported the victim, identified as a 35-year-old man from downstate, was taken by first responders by rescue sled from the scene to a main road. From there he was rushed to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. 

A Presque Isle County Sheriff's Sergeant speaking with WWJ Newsradio 950 on Wednesday would not share any further details, including the man's name or hometown, saying that more information would be released on Thursday. 

The crash remains under investigation.
