ROMULUS (WWJ) - Michigan State Police said one person was killed in a crash along I-94 near Detroit Metro Airport Monday afternoon.
A preliminary investigation determined that the at-fault driver sideswiped a vehicle in the center lane of eastbound I-94 at a high rate of speed. The other driver lost control, police said, and then hit a pole near Vining Road.
Police an 18-year-old male from Taylor was killed in the accident. The victim's identity has not been released, as next of kin had not been identified.

March 4, 2019 Traffic was backed up for a couple of hours on both sides of the freeway, which was completely closed for a time at the crash scene on the eastbound side, and partially closed on the westbound side.
Police said the freeway re-opened around 6 p.m. and the crash investigation was completed. It is unclear whether the other driver was injured in the incident.
