(WWJ) As flash flooding shuts down freeways and neighborhood roads across metro Detroit, the strong storms that brought heavy wind and rain through metro Detroit early this morning left almost 9,000 DTE customers in the dark.
Officials said about 600 are without power along the Southfield Freeway in Dearborn with over 1,000 scattered across northern Oakland County near Holly and another 500 in Sumpter Township.

Current estimates show power should be restored by late this morning. DTE says the outages have been caused by a variety of incidents -- from equipment failure to lightning strikes.
