WWJ -- Thousands of residents in Southeast Michigan are without power after a thunderstorms moved across the area Sunday afternoon.
DTE Energy said at least 20,000 customers were still without power as of 4 p.m.
Severe thunderstorm watches were in effect for several different areas, including southwestern Wayne County, southeastern Washtenaw County and northern Monroe County. Communities northeast of Detroit were also hit by storms, with more than 4,000 still without power in Clinton Township.
Downriver, the hardest hit area appeared to be in the Brownstown and Woodhaven areas, where more than 3,000 total customers were without power. That issue has since been restored.
The storms passed the area by about 2:45, but more rain returned to the area Sunday evening.
