(WWJ) Troy police want you to know about Gail Webster, a pretty blonde with a winning smile.

And a woman who deserves justice.

The police department is using its twitter account this week to remind people about Webster's unsolved murder in 1978 in the hopes it spurs a memory or a call that brings charges against her killer.

Here's the case as it stands so far:

Webster, then 48, was found murdered, beaten to death with a blunt object, in her home in Troy on Oct. 28, 1978. Her killer was never caught.

The twitter thread describes Webster as a friendly well-liked woman who managed the popular Susie-Q restaurant near 13 and Woodward, a cruiser hotspot.

"Gail had no history or involvement in any type of criminal or illicit activity," police said. She lived in a low crime area.

She had three men in her life, an ex-husband, ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend, and after she was killed all of them were cleared of the crime. So, who killed Webster ... and why? The mystery remains.

Will new technology bring Webster's killer to justice? Police say they hope so. But justice could also be served in the form of a tip from the public.

Anyone with information on Webster's death should call Troy police at 248-524-3777.
