(WWJ) Here's something you don't see every day ... Our own Charlie Langton stumbled onto a scene where a truck had just driven through a hotel lobby, smashing glass and sending it flying everywhere.
The dramatic scene happened at the Baymont Inn on 8 Mile Road at Coolidge, near the Ferndale and Royal Oak Township border.
The suspects smashed into the building, backing their silver Dodge Durango into the lobby. Two of the suspects got out, wearing dark clothes, hats, masks, and gloves. They tried to lift the ATM into the back of the SUV, but it was too heavy. They got back in and fled the scene.
The vehicle was later found abandoned by Detroit police. The front desk clerk suffered a minor injury.
"Caused quite a mess," Langton reported on WWJ Newsradio.
The assumption was the driver of the truck was trying to take the ATM, but that plan went awry and "they got nothing at all," Langton said.
Local police are looking for the truck in question.
