Two Arrested After High-Speed Chase In Warren

(WWJ) Warren police have two people in custody following a wild car chase.

The incident started when officers tried to pull over a car on Van Dyke near Civic Center Drive. Instead of stopping, the driver pulled a U-turn and accelerated, police said.

Police gave chase and eventually caught up. They arrested the driver and another man who they said was a felon in possession of a firearm.

They did not release any further details on the incident, including why they were attempting to stop the driver.

This came the same day a road worker was hit and killed on I-94  in nearby St. Clair Shores, and a few days after a driver going 100 mph slammed over a curb. In that incident, two Oak Park students were killed and four hospitalized. The Cadillac SRX containing six young men, ages 16 to 17, was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour, according to Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren, changing lanes frequently on northbound Telegraph Road before going out of control, jumping a curb and leaving the roadway at 10 Mile Rd.
