YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WWJ) - A Detroit man has been arrested by federal authorities in Ohio on charges he threatened a mass shooting in Michigan.

The U.S. Marshals Service says 28-year-old Cameron White was arrested Wednesday night by deputy marshals at a home in the 900 block of State Street in Youngstown, southeast of Cleveland.

According to Supervisory Deputy US Marshall Anne Murphy, they were acting on a tip from authorities in the Detroit area that White had posted "numerous threats" on Facebook -- including that he was "planning a massive shooting real soon."

"There was not a target specifically listed, however the city of Detroit was listed specially," Murphy told WWJ's Sandra McNeill.

White is charged in Michigan with making a terrorist threat or false report of terrorism and using a computer to commit a crime.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, in a statement: "Immediate attention to this dangerous suspect by the Detroit police department and the U.S. Marshal's task force in Detroit led to a swift and safe arrest by the task force in Youngstown.  We will continue to partner with our state and local law enforcement agencies to keep suspects like White off the streets and our communities safe."

White has not been linked to any terrorist groups, Murphy added. No firearms were found at the time of White's arrest, and his motive is unclear.

"Whether these threats were threats that he was planning to carry out, or if he was just boasting on social media...they're threats and that's enough for law enforcement," she said."We have to take these things seriously; and that's exactly what Detroit PD did, is they took him seriously."

On Thursday White remained held in the Mahoning County Jail awaiting extradition back to Michigan.
