DETROIT (WWJ) - Metro Detroit is an icy mess after freezing rain rolled through overnight.
It was a large skating rink across southeast Michigan Wednesday morning as freezing rain and sleet coated freeways, main roads and side streets, as well as parking lots and cars.
A Winter Weather Advisory for the area expired at 8 a.m., though drivers are still cautioned to expect slick, slushy roads through the morning as rain continues.
Detroit Metro Airport was closed for 14-hours due to the icy conditions overnight. It was shut down around 8 p.m. Tuesday and operations started to resume by 10 a.m. Wednesday. (More on this)
The QLINE also suspended service Wednesday morning due excessive flooding along Woodward Avenue. (More on the closure)
The icy weather is keeping hundreds of schools across the area closed Wednesday, including all public schools in Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and St. Clair Counties. **CHECK THE LIST**
