ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WWJ) -- A 37-year-old Detroit woman is in custody following an early morning altercation at a night club in Royal Oak.

Royal Oak police officers responded around 2 a.m. Wednesday to multiple 911 calls about an altercation outside of Strada, located at 366 N. Main Street, just north of 11 Mile Road. Strada is a restaurant and bar that has a live DJ for dance parties.

Officers quickly determined a female suspect had allegedly fired a handgun during the incident and they began searching for any potential victims and the suspect.

The suspect was soon located in her vehicle and ordered her from the car, but she suddenly fled at a high rate of speed southbound down Main Street after nearly striking an officer.

Officers caught up to the vehicle after it had lost control, struck a lamp pole, and caught fire at Main and 10 Mile Road. Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The suspect fled from the crash on foot before officers arrested her after a brief pursuit.

A passenger in the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Beaumont hospital by paramedics.

Authorities are still working to determine the events which led up to the altercation and discharge of the firearm.

The other parties involved in the altercation did not report having been hit by the gunfire. A small caliber revolver was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle after the fire was extinguished. No other injuries were reported.
