Markia Pitts, a 22-year-old from Detroit, has been charged with multiple crimes in an accident that left two dead.
On July 9, Pitts actually was involved in two different accidents.
The first, Pitts made an illegal turn that resulted in her getting hit by a sedan. Pitts fled the accident and was followed by a pedestrian who was trying to get her to pullover.
During her escape attempt from the first accident, Pitts ended up causing a second, more deadly, accident.
Pitts refused to listen to the car behind her and pull over. Instead, she blew a stop sign at a high rate of speed and struck a sedan that had three people in it.
All three were transported to hospital. The driver, a 34-year-old male, and the front passenger, a 31-year-old female, died at the hospital. The male in the backseat survived, but suffered several serious injuries.
Pitts has been charged with two counts of Reckless Driving Causing Death, one count of Reckless Driving Causing Serious Impairment of a Bodily Function, and one count of Failure to Stop at Scene of Property Damage Accident.
Pitts will remain in jail and has a Probable Cause Conference scheduled on July 19 and a Preliminary Examination on July 26.
