TROY (WWJ) - Police are investigating a homicide in Troy after a 61-year-old woman was found dead inside her mobile home.
Officers responded to a home in the Troy Villa Mobile Home Community, off Stephenson Highway near Maple Road, around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after being contacted by relatives who hadn't seen or heard from the victim since Monday.
Officers initially couldn't find her and began treating the incident as a missing person investigation.
Eventually, the victim's body was discovered inside her home. Police say efforts were made to conceal her body and obvious trauma was observed.
An investigation led officers to Oak Park, where a relative of the victim was taken into custody. A person who lives at the victim's home was also brought in for further questioning.
Police are withholding the victim's name at this time, but say she was a longtime resident of Troy.
Neighbor Paul Anderson said a strange incident happened at the victim's home earlier this week.
"Just a couple days ago, a younger man, like 20 or something, comes out of that house screaming about satan, the devil and the end of the world, telling me to redeem myself and Jesus saves. It was just a bunch of gibberish about the devil and god. It was crazy," Anderson told WWJ's Charlie Langton.
Michigan State Police detectives are helping Troy police with the investigation.
An autopsy will be conducted Thursday to determine the cause of death.
Police say there is no current danger to the community.
