HOWELL (WWJ) - A woman is fighting for her life, and another person in serious condition, following a crash involving a semi truck near Howell overnight.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office said a 34-year-old Oxford man driving a Chevy Silverado failed to yield the right-of-way to the semi along M-59 at Latson Road in Oceola Township, at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. The semi hit the pickup truck which then hit a two other cars, according to investigators.
The pickup driver was taken by EMS to University of Michigan Hospital hospital in serious condition, while his female passenger was listed in critical condition with what were described as with life threatening injuries. The woman was not wearing a seatbelt, officials said.
No one in the other vehicle involved was seriously hurt.
M-59 was closed for about six hours following the crash but has since reopened. Alcohol and speed do not appear to have been factors in the incident, according to investigators.
Further details, including the age of the injured woman and the names of those involved, were not released.
