Concerts around the globe have been on hold since March. With a slew of postponements and cancelations plaguing artists across every genre of music, it’s been a bleak seven, almost eight months without world tours, intimate shows, and theatrical concerts. However, Ticketmaster has plans to bring live music back into our lives without putting concert goers at risk.
The ticketing company has announced, SmartEvent, Ticketmaster’s solution to concert-going amidst the pandemic. The new form of technology explained in Ticketmaster’s statement will include a Social Distance Seating Tool, which will utilize algorithms to calculate safe maximum capacities at venues.
SmartEvent will also implement technology for staggering event entry. The Timed Entry Tool and Entry Rate Monitoring Tools will work to prevent overcrowding within venues. Additionally, ticket scanning and box office needs will all be virtually contactless to limit human to human interaction.

Ticketmaster’s President Mark Yovich shared in a recent statement, “we know that fans around the world are eager to return to live events and SmartEvent gives event organizers an array of solutions to help make that possible.” Plus Yovich says, “SmartEvent brings together our advanced technology platform and industry-leading venue and seating insights, putting Ticketmaster in the unique position to facilitate paths back to live.”
Ticketmaster's SmartEvent comes after a German Coronavirus study on attending concerts found that the "risk of getting infected is very low."
