With the University of Michigan men's basketball team playing for a national championship Monday night, the city of Ann Arbor is asking fans to be responsible.

Some students were sleeping outside local bars Sunday night in order to be be among the first inside when the businesses open later Monday.

"Your police department wants you to enjoy each high-stakes moment of the college basketball national championship," Ann Arbor Police Chief Andre C. Anderson wrote in a message to the community Sunday. "All eyes are watching the game, and the nation is paying close attention to our celebratory actions. Once again, we get to showcase our city as a premier destination for extraordinary events."

The police chief says everyone needs to be mindful of disruptive behavior, public intoxication, and property damage.

"Please follow all directions from uniformed officers and event staff. As always, if you "see something, say something.” Report any suspicious activity or safety concerns immediately to the nearest officer or by calling 911," the message says.

"Please be mindful of neighbors and local noise ordinances during late-night celebrations and ensure all personal property and vehicles are secured, particularly in high- density fan areas."

The chief says he "can't stress the importance of having a wonderful time in our city and again, enjoy every moment of the game."

Among the safety reminders put out by the city was one about drunk driving. Before you attend any celebration, designate a sober driver before you go or schedule a ride service to get home safely," the city said in a release.

There are a number of watch parties, including at Crisler Center for all University of Michigan students, faculty and staff. A MCard is required for entrance. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

The UM Alumni Association has watch parties planned across the country. You can find one here https://alumni.umich.edu/athletics/mens-final-four...

As far as tickets, there are some available on websites like StubHub and Vivid Seats. The cheapest on Monday morning was around $160. The better seats are going for over $2,000.
