(WWJ) A 16-year-old Amish boy has died in a tragic accident while working on a farm in Sanilac County, according to Michigan State Police.
Police said this happened at 4:45 p.m. Monday, in the 3400 block of Stimson Road, near Bailey Road.
An investigation by troopers with the Caro Post found that the boy was baling hay when a horse got spooked, causing the wagon to flip. The wagon overturned onto the boy, trapping him underneath, MSP said.
He was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to a trauma center, where he later died of his injuries. His name was not released.
No horses were injured, and no one else was hurt, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The MSP Third district added, in a statement: "Michigan State Police extend our deepest condolences to the family and community affected by this tragic incident. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time."
