HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) - The Houston Texans have agreed to trade LB/DE Jadeveon Clowney to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2020 third-round pick, DE/OLB Barkevious Mingo, LB Jacob Martin, pending physicals from all players, as reported by NFL Reporter Albert Breer.
Seth Payne and Cecil Shorts III are breaking down the trade for us right here.
Clowney's preferred destinations were Seattle and Philadelphia, over Miami, where the Texans reportedly planned to trade him more than a month ago.
The Miami deal would have included Dolphins' left tackle Laremy Tunsil at a position the Texans are desperate to fill.
Clowney gives the Seahawks another elite pass rusher to pair with Ezekiel Ansah after trading Frank Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs in the offseason.
The Seahawks, however, are only guaranteed to have Clowney for the 2019 season. Clowney must play out the rest of his franchise tag before he is eligible for free agency after the season.
Clowney recorded 205 tackles, 29 sacks, and scored two touchdowns in his five seasons with the Texans.
