SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- Who's ready for some sticking snow?

If you're in the mood for winterlike weather, you could get your wish this weekend — depending on where you live in Metro Detroit.

It's actually a little late in the season to see our first snow, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Joe Lundberg.

"I mean, usually we've had some snow flurries or snow showers, but this is actually gonna be bona fide snow," he told WWJ's Jackie Paige. "Then we'll get the snow showers behind it, as the core of the cold air moves in early next week."

When will the snow arrive?

Lundberg said, after some chilly rain early Friday, the sun would break through Friday afternoon, with a pleasant high of 59 degrees in Metro Detroit.

Then: "That's it for the warm weather for awhile."

Saturday will be mostly cloudy and dry in Metro Detroit, with a high of around 47 degrees.

Then an area of low-pressure will move in late Saturday night, bringing the snow.

"We'll get some rain initially; that'll mix with snow," Lundberg said. "And that will end as snow early Sunday."

How much snow will we get?

In and around the City of Detroit, AccuWeather is calling for a "slushy coating to an inch" of snow on unpaved surfaces.

The northern and western suburbs are expect to see a bit more, with AccuWeather predicting 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation by noon on Sunday.

More flurries and snow showers are expected in Metro Detroit later Sunday afternoon and evening, continuing on Monday.

It'll stay pretty cold all weekend, with highs in the 30s, Lundberg said.

It'll warm up just a bit above 40 degrees on Tuesday, with temps moderating back up in the 40s for the rest of the week.
