1 pedestrian dead after runover while crossing highway on Detroit's east side

Detroit police told WWJ that officers were called to the scene of the fatal crash on Park Drive and Harper Ave. around 8:15 p.m. on March 20 where an adult male was struck attempting to cross four lanes.

DETROIT (WWJ) - One pedestrian is dead after he was hit while crossing a highway in Detroit on Monday evening.

Detroit police told WWJ that officers were called to the scene of the fatal crash on Park Drive and Harper Ave. around 8:15 p.m. on March 20 where an adult male was struck attempting to cross four lanes.

While details surrounding the incident remain unclear, police said the man was instantly killed. Earlier reports stated the victim was hit by four vehicles, but police were unable to confirm that at this time.

Officials are continuing to investigate the scene and if additional cars were involved.

The victim's identity has not been released at this time.
