1 dead, another in custody following early morning shooting in Grosse Pointe Woods

GROSSE POINTE WOODS (WWJ) - Police have one person in custody after a shooting in Grosse Pointe Woods killed a young man early Friday morning.

According to the City of Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety, officers responded to a home in the 1800 block of Brys Drive around 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 6 after receiving reports of a shooting victim.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a young man who had been struck by gunfire.

Unconfirmed reports identified the victim as 18-years-old and was wounded in the neck, but police have not released the man's age or where he sustained the gunshot wound.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, but police said he succumbed to his injuries.

Public safety officers confirmed there is no threat to the public at this time and a suspect in the fatal shooting has been arrested.

No information about the victim or the suspect was released, although police stated everyone has been identified.

The cause of the shooting remains unknown at this time, but an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
