1 dead, one in critical condition after early morning shooting at Inkster strip mall

INKSTER (WWJ) -- One person is dead and a second is hospitalized after a shooting at an Inkster strip mall.

Michigan State Police said it happened around 1 a.m. Friday, at a shopping center near Henry Ruff and Cherry Hill, north of Michigan Ave.

Police said two men, ages 33 and 35, were rushed to the hospital with for treatment of several gunshot wounds.

The 35-year-old man later died of his injures, according to MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw, while the other man was last reported to be in critical condition.

Their names were not released.

At this time, it's unclear what led up to the shooting.

Inkster Police has turned the ongoing investigation over to the Michigan State Police.

Editor's note: Police earlier said both victims has died, but later provided an correction stating that one of them remained cortical, later Friday.
