Crews from all five LFD stations arrived at the scene and pulled the woman, identified as the sole resident, out of the home. Firefighters immediately began resuscitation efforts before the victim was rushed to Trinity Health at Five Mile and Levan.

"Unfortunately," the fire department stated, "the resident did not survive."

Firefighters who remained at the scene were able to get the fire under control and contained all damage to the one house. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
