PORT HURON (WWJ) - One person is dead following a large fight at a Port Huron bar shortly after closing time early Saturday morning, police said.
The Port Huron Police Department said officers were dispatched to a bar in the 400 block of Quay Street in Port Huron around 2:11 a.m. on Nov. 4 on reports of a large fight with a person being held down by bouncers.
When police arrived at the bar, they "[secured] the individual being held down by bar staff and immediately recognized that the subject was unresponsive."
The officers, along with bar employees, immediately began life saving measures while waiting for EMS personnel.
When medics arrived, they took over emergency care and rushed them to McLaren Hospital, but the person was pronounced dead shortly upon arrival.
According to a press release, Michigan State Police launched an investigation into the incident with assistance from the Port Huron Police Criminal Investigative Division and Major Crimes Unit.
