Man shot after stabbing 2 suspects during carjacking attempt in Detroit

One man was shot and two suspects were stabbed overnight after they physically fought each other during a carjacking attempt at a gas station in Detroit.

DETROIT (WWJ) - One man was shot and two suspects were stabbed overnight after they physically fought each other during a carjacking attempt at a gas station in Detroit.

The Detroit Police Department said the struggle began around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday at a gas station near 7 Mile Road and Grand River Ave.

Officers said a man in his 60s was getting ready to leave the gas station in his 2015 Honda Accord when two other men stopped him.

One of suspect was armed with a pistol and the two tried to steal the man's vehicle, but he fought back, police added.

During the fight, the owner of the vehicle stabbed both of the suspects before one of them shot him.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

One of the alleged carjackers is said to be in critical condition as well, while the other suspect is in serious condition.

No other details were released by authorities.
