DETROIT (WWJ) -- Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting on Detroit's east side that left one man dead.
Detroit Police officers were executing a search warrant at a home on Moross near Kelly Road a little after 2 p.m. when the shooting occurred.
According to Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison, a 20-year-old man allegedly fired a shot at officers who entered a locked bedroom.
One officer returned fire, killing the man.
Two women and a child were safely removed from the home, and they were not injured.
The search warrant was related to a a report of shots being fired into a home on Waltham Street last Saturday, Bettison said,
Bettison told reporters that, as of late Wednesday afternoon, they were still looking for another suspect, identified as Marco Ballard.
"He's a Black male, 17 year of age. We have reason to believe that he fired into that occupied dwelling with a rifle," the chief said.
Anyone with information on Ballard's whereabouts is urged to contact the Detroit Police Department or 911.
Chief Bettison said a second suspect in a related shooting was still at large
