11-year-old boy in critical condition after 'numerous shots' fired into a home on Detroit's west side

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A little boy is fighting for his life after an overnight shooting in a neighborhood on Detroit's west side.

According to Detroit Police, the shooting happened at around 2 a.m. Monday on Bramell St., in the area of area of W. McNichols and Telegraph Rd.


Commander Ryan Connor told reporters that an unknown suspect opened fire into an occupied home with kids inside.

"Unfortunately, an 11-year-old was shot numerous times," Connor said. "He was conveyed to a local hospital where he's currently critical condition."

There is no information at this time about a motive for the shooting, and no suspects have been named or described.

Conner said it's still very early in the investigation, but police are asking for tips from the public.
